Students from St Marys on the Hill Primary school recently attended a graduation event @ UCC on completion of the STEAM programme run in conjunction with UCC. The STEAM programme provides fund engaging, ready-to-teach programmes in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths in primary schools.
Over the past 25 weeks, the 6th Class students from St. Marys on the Hill Primary School, along with other schools around the country were wowed by Post Graduate students covering everything from the Big Bang to human biology.
The programme on the northside of Cork was funded by Gurranabraher Credit Unions Freedom Student Account. Speaking at the event, Michael O Connell, Chairman of Gurranabraher Credit Union said “When we were asked to support this initiative, Gurranabraher Credit Union could see straight away the major benefits that this would have in developing the children in our community. We have a unique position in our community which allows us to support education initiatives that will benefit all in the community. We will always back our children to be the best that they can be and this STEAM programme is part of this support.”
