Scoil Padre Pio Primary School are taking technology in learning to a new level after receiving funding for tablets from Gurranabraher Credit Union.


Gurranabraher Credit Union sponsored a number of new Tablets for local primary school Scoil Padre Pio.  The Tablets will be used as part of an initiative the school is running with the SUAS Organisation who work with disadvantaged schools with the aim of increasing literacy and numeracy levels.  Scoil Padre Pio have been involved with them for the past 3 years and prior to COVID, SUAS tutors came to the school regularly   Because of Covid19 all support is now online and with the introduction of these new Tablets, the school can now involve all children who benefit from this resource using online tutoring.

Speaking prior to the presentation, Michael O Connell, on behalf of Gurranabraher Credit Union said “We are delighted that we can support such an important initiative in Scoil Padre Pio.   Working in the community as we do, we have a very close relationship with educators and feel that by supporting their initiatives we will see a dividend for all our community in the future.”

Gurranabraher Credit Union operates an extensive community sponsorship programme which provides support to many local clubs, societies, individuals and schools in the local community. Gurranabraher Credit Union has provided €0.5 million in sponsorship support to the local community in the last 10 years, through its Community Development & Education Committee (CDEC).
