We’re working to make your banking services better. The good news is, soon you will be able to send instant payments from your account.

What are instant payments?

Since January 2025, you have been able to receive instant payments to your payment account. This means your balance is updated straight away when someone sends you an instant payment

From 1st of September 2025, we’ll start to roll out the ability to send instant payments from your account. These payments will reach the receiving account within 10 seconds. We will let you know when these become available through our online services and on our website.

What do I need to do now?

To get ready for these changes, we’re updating our Regulation 76 Information on 1st September 2025. To accept these changes, you don’t need to do anything, and you can continue to use your accounts and services.

If you don’t want to accept the changes, you have the option, free of charge, to close your account and let us know you are ending your agreement with us.

If we don’t hear from you before 1st September 2025, we’ll apply these changes.

What is SEPA?

The Single Euro Payment Area (‘SEPA’) is an initiative to simplify euro payments in the SEPA zone.

What is the difference between a SEPA Credit Transfer and a SEPA Instant credit Transfer?

A SEPA Credit Transfer allows the transfer of money between two payment accounts in the SEPA zone. A SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (or instant payment for short) allows payments to be processed within seconds, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How fast are instant payments and are there any additional fees or charges?

Successful instant payments reach the receiving account within 10 seconds. There are no additional charges for instant payments

What if I make a payment at weekends, bank holidays or at nighttime?

Instant payments will be available at weekends, bank holidays and at nighttime. There are a few exceptions to this such as times when the system is unavailable for maintenance.
