We’re Hiring: Credit Controller

Take ownership of the Credit Control Function and help shape effective credit control policies, processes and member support.
Gurranabraher Credit Union is a community-based Credit Union serving 15,000 members and managing assets of over €106 million.

About the Role

This permanent, office-based position has overall responsibility for the Credit Union’s credit control function. The role is based across our Cork city offices at Bakers Road, Gurranabraher, and Harbourview Road, Knocknaheeny.

A competitive remuneration package will be offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Reporting to the CEO and Financial Controller, the Credit Controller will manage the credit control function and related administration, including:

  • Manage day-to-day credit control administration.
  • Communicate effectively with members in arrears by telephone, text, email and direct meetings.
  • Provide an efficient, professional and member-focused service.
  • Manage arrears effectively and fairly, working with members on appropriate repayment arrangements while protecting the interests of the Credit Union.
  • Monitor both live and charged-off loans.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date member details in the credit control IT system.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the CEO/Financial Controller and Credit Control Committee.
  • Liaise with the Credit Union’s solicitors as required.
  • Attend court when required to represent the Credit Union.
  • Support new and revised credit arrangements, where appropriate.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Credit Control Policy and Procedures and contribute to improved processes and policies.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties assigned by the CEO.

Essential Requirements

  • QFA or another relevant professional qualification.
  • Relevant experience in credit control, arrears management, lending or financial services, preferably in a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and communications software.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Desirable: A degree in Business or another relevant discipline.
